Lars Ulrich And filesharing

Lars Ulrich, better known as one of the leaders and the drummer for Metallica, was always very vocal about his stance on filesharing. As a musician and entrepreneur, he naturally disliked the idea of people scoring his tracks online for free while he didn’t make a dime. Lars took part in an interview a while ago (early ’90s) when their concern was teenagers recording their concers onto cassettes with boomboxes. He even jokes about these kids gaining a big share of the music market.

Unfortunately for him, what he predicted became true in the form of Napster. After he got word that his music was being given away for free via Napster, Lars went on a spree, making T.V. ads and doing many interviews where he loved to voice his anti-filesharing opinion. Napster was eventually taken down because of Zealots like him, but as we all saw, when one fell, ten more rose from its ashes in the form of Kazaa, WinMX, Limewire, etc. Today, the battle is not over, but things still look really good for filesharers (ie. its just as easy to do it today as it was before). And as for Lars from Metallica, he stopped his campaign and tries to make his money from live shows, posters and action figures.

One thing is for sure, anytime a new Metallica album comes out, it quickly becomes one of the most downloaded files in the bootleg music download category.

Re: I’m Soo Deep

So I’ve been reading alot of “articles” here on Camouflage culture and I really enjoyed how there was a strong emphasis on satire and survey of action and ideology on our forum.

Responding to jeffrah’s post on “I’m Soo Deep”, what got me really thinking was what the video was categorized under,

Now, why would a satirical comedic poem be categorized under plastic?

This is by far, my favorite commercial of all time.

This commercial not only has great amount of creativity embedded on it, to me it felt as if it brought a level of commercial to a new level.

Being plastic… what does it really mean?

To be, being plastic is always trying to top another person or another thing.

To be a perfect “creation”. We hunger to be plastic, do we not?

Internet humor leaking into the mainstream lol….

hopefully this windows will have a much better launch than the highly debated Vista (which i happen to like)…but i do agree that it had a pretty rocky launch and some really bad press associated with it.  There seems to be some pretty interesting new features coming, so i am crossing my fingers for breaking the regime of bad launches 🙂

last week, we talked about pornography and how some of us did not accept it.

When I was very little, I remember watching SHIN CHAN with my mom.

Now if you don’t know about the show, there is this little devious kid gets naked from time to time and does this butt dance. I tried to copy that many times and my mom would just crack up.

I was around 6 or 7 when I started watching the show and I remember Shin chan taking off his pants and he would have his penis showing. My mom would comment how its so cute to have that in a cartoon

and i would be laughing and jumping all over the place.

hahahaha. its so interesting how every generation, so many things are changing.

what’s next?

Super Bowl XLII’s outcome was totally ripped from this issue of Captain America.  Capt. (The Patriot Son of America) was totally dominating his opponents until his nemesis, The Red Skull figured out that the Cosmic Cube allowed him to see his opponents next move (allowing him to be one step ahead of them at all times).  Once The Skull got his hands on the cube, he used it’s power to become a giant at which point he proceeded to wreck Capt.’s shit, much like The Giants did to The Patriots.
