Why do we like Starbucks Coffee?

There are a lot of coffee shops, but why many people prefer Starbucks?  Is coffee at Starbucks so special compared to other coffees?

Do People buy coffee at Starbucks for the brand name?

Why is Starbucks Coffee so popular?

I think the films make Starbucks more popular.  I’ve seen the characters in the movie getting and/or having a Starbucks drink a lot.

Please take a look at the clip of Austin Powers.

We can see that there is a Starbucks Coffee in the room and Dr. Evil (Mike Myers) and Scott Evil (Seth Green) have a Starbucks drink because Dr. Evil loves Starbucks Coffee.

Here is a scene from Miss Congeniality.

Grace Hart (Sandra Bullock) is ordering drinks at Starbucks Coffee for her co-workers.

Here is a clip from Zoolander.

Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) is depressed, so his friends and Derek got an Orange Mocha Frappuchino to cheer Derek up.

What do you think?  Do you think films make Starbucks Coffee popular and convince viewers to buy their drinks?

ive seen all these movies yet i dont feel the need to buy starbucks. i dont think that these movies have a big impact on the fact starbucks is very popular. maybe it could be the fact that their are a million locations or coffee is a stimulant that people can get addicted to.
in the austin powers clip they have starbucks because #2 invested in the company. in miss congeniality she is at starbucks to show her status as the coffee getter. in zoolander one they practically make fun of starbucks. again i dont think its entirely media thats making starbucks so popular.

  3. I think it’s very interesting that Starbucks has reached the amount of success it has had without a lot of advertising. Today, advertising is a billion dollar industry in which corporations are needing it to promote their products. I think it is highly possible that they have discreetly done this through the movies though. Instead of playing commercials, they instead just go straight to other sources.

    wtf it posted twice.

  5. Having Starbucks shown in movies sparks an array of reactions. Some may become curious about trying it, others might become cynical about large corporations advertising in their movies, others might think it’s now funny or cool to drink Starbucks because Dr. Evil does or whatever. It definitely puts their name out there. But Starbucks really haven’t had many real commercials in between our television programs, except those “pass the cheer” ones they had last Christmas. The company really stresses that their workers really learn the art and background of coffee, and connect with the customers so that they’ll consider Starbucks as their “second home.” Starbucks relied a lot of word of mouth to haul the people in. Of course, you can lead the herd to the water, but you can’t always make them drink. All workers aren’t going to have that coffee-driven mentality. And yes, it’s always about making money as well.
