Ludacris’ “Press the Start Button” – song about video games

The track, it seems, was only included on the Netherlands release of this album, but it’s available for your listening pleasure on a number of sites. the song makes references to Contra, Street Fighter, Grand Theft Auto, Guitar Hero, Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out, NBA Live, PlayStation, Atari, Super Mario Bros., Halo, Call of Duty, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Pac Man, Virtua Fighter, Madden 09. Final Fantasy. Soul Calibur, Galaga and Assassin’s Creed. So, this is the rapper who games.
I think the song is original but not a good one. what do you think?

I heard this song earlier today on defsounds.com. I thought the song was awesome! haha, only cause I’m a game nerd. All the commenters at defsounds feel that this song is “FIRE!”
I think what makes people love this song is because hes using video game references and we know what video games he is talking about and we can relate to it. Reminds me of how some rappers name drop or Gym Class Heroes awesome song, Taxi Driver. Same style as Ludacris’ song but using names of rock bands. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGYCY48Tugw

This song isn’t good or original. I’ve heard a bunch of songs about videogames before, and done a lot better. I guess more recently would be People Under The Stairs “Gamin On Ya” http://www.deftune.com/2008/10/05/people-stairs-puts-gamin-ya/

    Shit is ill

  3. We featured this track on our free mixtape download this week. The song was like a walk down memory lane for me as remember all the characters and terms he was talking about.

  4. Well i think it sounds good has nice beat and ludicris is one of the best so it cant go wrong i have never herd any other song that does it like this. but i think it is original, its awsome how he makes it work and it just flows
