Golden Shoes. Golden Price.

New York based artist, Ken Courtney created this limited edition Nike high-top shoes. There are only five of the gold-dipped high tops in the world and a pair of these golden shoes comes with a golden price tag. A pair of these would set you back as much as $5400…so much for an economy in recession.

    Nice kicks yo
It really is amazing how many expensive items are being advertised in such a struggling time for most Americans. It is amazing how materialistic our society has become. How do we expect to boost ourselves out of this economic crisis when all we strive for is that new Benz?

  2. I totally agree with you… I think this is one of the reasons why so many Americans are struggling today. Americans like to live beyond their means, we buy things that we can’t afford. We like to pay with our plastics knowing that we don’t have cash in the bank.

And I think the worst part is that there are still companies trying to give loans to those who can’t really afford them. Just the other day I heard an ad for cars that said that even those with bad credit could still get a new car. It’s like the companies aren’t acknowledging that what got us into this mess got us into this mess.

The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, the rich get even richer, the poor get even poorer. So it goes. I got an email today from a clothing retailer, and they were offering a trunk of designer clothing “for just $20k!” Seriously? That’s just rude.

In terms of style, fashion, and art though, what the fuck? Ken Courtney, you honestly couldn’t GET more uninspired. If this is high art, then UH is on the pulse because people in the art building here spray stuff gold on a daily basis.

That those shoes are ridiculously expensive doesn’t make them any more inventive. Good riddance gold shoes.

  5. I would totally buy those shoes, if I had that much money. I love shoes! Shoes ROCK! The gold shoes are even awesomer then any shoe I have ever seen! Shoes fill the cracks of the heart! 🙂
