Hating in Society

I’ve come to the conclusion that as a society, we are to blame for all the hate crimes we bring upon others. Women are being called sluts, bithces, and whores because other women last out to such an extreme because they fuel their rage on all the hate those other women cause and now they have created this typical stereotype of any women who is dressed somewhat provocatively to be slutty or whorish because other jealous women can’t keep it to themselves. Men on the other hand aren’t called sluts or anything when caught in the same predicament because of the fact that other men don’t go around calling them manwhores or mansluts. [yea.. manslut, thats a new one for ya]

other examples include black stereotypes and jokes directed toward them in movies, tv shows, etc.. i believe alot of these jokes directed towards them are because of other black comedians that typically start the jokes in the first place and unveil them to the world. comedians like chris rock and richard pryor have laid out so many typical jokes upon themselves and others alike where we as a society think of it as ok and funny to go out and talk about. yet there are black people who are outraged at the fact that a man other than a man of black skin will go out and tell that joke or bring up such a topic. not only do black comedians and others do it. but white film makers show it in there movies where we all laugh, but are criticized later because its politically incorrect due to it being racial. In the Simpsons Movie, theres a scene where the town goes into a crises where the mayor issues a code red, or in this case “code black” due to the lake turning black. Here’s the quote. [note: everyone is  pretty much white in the town, carl is black along with one more other black man in the town]

Mayor Quimby: I hereby declare a state of emergency: Code Black.
Lenny: Black? That’s the worst color there is.
[Lenny turns to Carl, his black friend]
Lenny: No offense there, Carl.
Carl: I get it all the time.

yea… society sucks hard.

  1. Yes I totally agree. Stereotypes eventually emerge from making insults or labels on ourselves and other people. It was probably bringing up jokes about ourselves and others alike that caused society to start making the implications. Why do people do it in the first place? do we hate ourselves and others that much to start making up labels? This made me think of how highschool is; you know, having those cliques, having labels, starting rumors, eventually resulting in fights. ahh, if only we could turn back time and make the world a better place…

Yes the racial jokes will never fade away until everyone realizes that we are all the same. I imagine people use racial jokes because it is taboo, it is risky. That is why there is a shock factor which makes the joke funny.
I hope nobody took offense in the simpsons movie.

  3. Why do the jokes seem funny though? is it because its true, or just because of the stereotypical implications? I’ve heard my share of racial jokes, and they seem more insulting and fake than it is true. Again, this might result in more stereotypes and labels. The jokes get so degrading sometimes.

  4. I guess in reality, racial jokes has been develop as a norm in society. I mean, sometimes when my friends get bored, they bring up racial jokes just for fun like: Whats the difference between a ****** man and a bucket of *****? blah blah blah, and the answer would be the bucket. So… what do you think? Would you find that funny? But its kinda offensive if you ask me because its just calling the people crap.
