Bluring The Lines Between Documentry And Fiction

I remember hearing about this project awhile ago, and I think it’s pertinent to what we’ve been discussing in class. Richard Linklater(Waking Life, Scanner Darkly) is currently shooting a 12 year film revolving around one families divorce, and it’s ramifications on their son. Tentatively entitled “Boyhood,” the idea is that we are actually watching this boy grow up in front of our eyes. “He’s been meeting annually with Ethan Hawke, Patricia Arquette, and a devoted crew. ‘Every year, I get together with the actors and we film a little bit… It’s about a kid growing up — that’s the gist of it,’ he told MTV.” It is supposedly shot documentary style but is not actually a documentary.

Something to look forward to in 2013
