How does cool change?

It is interesting that cool can change so fast.  What was once cool won’t be anymore, and might reappear as cool again someday.  It is also amazing that people will do anything to be noticed.  Take Brittany Spears for an example.  She was so cute when she started to become popular, and then when her success began to dissipate a little bit, she decided that staring in her own reality television series would be a good idea.  Let’s take a look back:

I think you leaned a little heavily on the fast-forward button when it comes to recounting Spears’ career path.

You cannot confuse nostalgia with cultural criticism. I think your argument needs more FORENSICS… where are all the still images and video clips that illustrate Spears’ arc ‘o fame?

    Then you’ve got a case.

I’ll admit that I’m not a Spears expert, but she stands out in my mind as an artist who led a carreer where many fans respected her as a singer and looked up to her as a role model, and then she crashed and burned in a way. Even though many people still looked as her as a role model, it was in a different way. It was in the “baddass” I can smoke and drink and still make money and videos way. She is a perfect example of trying to make cool change. Look at her in this video of crazy to the huge difference of her in her show “Chaotic”.
