You’re Lucky, you’re cute.

I’ve seen so many times that someone was excused because they were cute.  In the clip, Joey’s cuteness erases his irresponsible and selfish behavior.

Why is cuteness such a big deal?  Cuteness saves face.  Cuteness implies fragility, innocence, and harmlessness.  One cannot be so hard on someone who has these qualities.

Some of the things American culture values are to “save” or “teach” others.  This notion of “saving” and “teaching” influences how people look at others and how others present themselves.  Children are considered cute because they are willing to be taught.  Since youth is valued in the United States, people with clean, fresh appearances are looked at as cute, and these “cute” features encourage Americans to reinforce their behaviors toward “cute” people.

Cute people and cute things make me forget the bad things happen to me.  They heal my tired mind and make me happy.
